Today, Oshkosh Truck is a driving force in three key business segments: fire and emergency, defense, and commercial. All are markets where engineering expertise, manufacturing savvy, and dedication to service are in high demand among customers.

We are the market leader in aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles at commercial and military airports in North America and can be found at airports in over 40 countries worldwide. With the acquisition of Pierce Manufacturing Inc., the leading name in municipal fire and rescue trucks, the company now offers a complete line of firefighting vehicles. Oshkosh's airport vehicles and Pierce are combined into one fire and emergency business with 1996 sales of approximately $250 million.

Oshkosh has built a reputation as being the premier severe-duty truck provider for the U.S. military. Annual sales for heavy-duty defense trucks are stable at $200 to $250 million, with significant growth opportunities in other areas. For example, Oshkosh is currently overhauling several hundred Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTTs), and Oshkosh was one of two successful competitors to develop and test prototypes for the Medium Tactical Truck Remanufacture (MTTR) program.

Oshkosh offers an expanded product offering to customers in this market. We have been a forerunner in the revolutionary trend toward front pour designs for concrete carriers. Our products are designed to help customers work smarter and faster. In 1996, Oshkosh introduced a new line of rear discharge mixers, taking advantage of concepts learned in the development of our forward placement trucks. The current product line-up includes forward placement concrete carriers, rear mixer packages, all-wheel-drive trucks, and refuse vehicles.

Delivering the best quality has been a cornerstone of Oshkosh's mission since day one. Integral to that reputation for quality has been a corporate focus on developing a flexible, efficient manufacturing process. The company was among the first worldwide truck manufacturers to earn ISO 9001 certification, and earned the AQP Organizational Excellence Award in 1996.

In 1996, Oshkosh Truck's fiscal sales exceeded $600 million. The company employs approximately 2600 people and is headquartered in Oshkosh, Wis. Additional manufacturing facilities are located in Texas and Florida. Regional and international service centers work in unison with an international network of representatives to ensure fast, knowledgeable service and parts support for customers.
